The Burden of Nine Lives

Synopsis: Jimmy and his two cousins, Donnie and Curtis, manage to steal the secret stash of Gabriel, one of the city’s most prominent drug traffickers, and unknowingly attempt to sell it back to him. During the sales meeting, Gabriel explodes in anger and orders his trusted men, Tony and Marcus, to execute Jimmy and his crew. Jimmy miraculously survives and is rescued by the medical response team his aunt Griselda calls after receiving a message from him.

Jimmy wakes up in the hospital a few days later, with very few memories of what happened, and is being cared for by Doctor Francis and Nurse Pauline. While in the hospital, Jimmy is visited by Detectives Henderson and Nedved, whose questions trigger Jimmy’s memory. As his memories return, Marcus arrives to try to kill Jimmy again, but Jimmy is saved in the emergency room by Pauline and Doctor Francis. Pauline begins to develop a romantic interest in Jimmy as she cares for him.

While recovering, Jimmy escapes from the hospital and begins his quest for revenge. Jimmy hunts down Marcus and Tony while being pursued by the detectives. Jimmy’s activity causes an increase in police patrols, which enrages Russell, the second most important player in the city’s drug trade. Russell captures Jimmy, but Jimmy manages to convince him that Gabriel is starting a war against Russell. Russell believes Jimmy, leading to a final confrontation between Jimmy, Russell, and Gabriel.

The story takes place in the fictional Neo Rhode City, a place divided between beautiful oceans, lush green land, and modern man-made structures, while also housing a commercial system infiltrated by deadly illegal activity.
